MADE TO LAST: CARING FOR YOUR MADISON CREEK LEATHER

Taking care of your leather garment ensures it will continue to look and feel great for years to come. Whether it's a vest or a jacket, proper maintenance and seasonal storage can help preserve the natural character and quality of the leather. Here are a few simple tips to help you get the most out of your Madison Creek leather piece.

1. Storage: When you're not wearing it, hang the jacket on a wide wooden hanger to help maintain its shape. Avoid covering it in plastic—leather needs to breathe. Instead, store it in a breathable garment bag (cotton or canvas is ideal) in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
   
   
2. Conditioning: While your jacket won’t need frequent conditioning, if it ever begins to feel dry or stiff, you can use Lexol Leather Conditioner. Before applying to a large area, test the conditioner on a small, inconspicuous spot and wait a few hours to ensure it doesn’t affect the color or finish. Follow the instructions on the bottle and be sure not to cover it in plastic. Leather needs to breathe, and covering it in plastic traps moisture, which can lead to mold, mildew, and deterioration. When conditioning leather, it absorbs oils and moisture from the conditioner, and any excess needs to evaporate. Hang the jacket on a wooden hanger and store conditioned leather in a well-ventilated area to allow it to dry.
   
   
3. Cleaning: For surface dirt or dust, gently wipe the leather with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water or household cleaners, as they can damage the finish. For deeper cleaning, we recommend consulting a professional leather cleaner.
   
   
4. Avoiding Damage: Try to keep the jacket dry. If it does get caught in a light rain, blot it gently with a clean cloth and let it air-dry away from heat. Never use a hair dryer or place it near a heater.
